Most of the cases there is an inverse relationship between population diversification or ethnic diversifi- cation and availability of public goods. Maximum studies on this issue stressed social fragmentation’s negative impact on the provision of public goods.But in some cases there is a quite different result. This paper presents an empirical investigation that examines the relation ship between social diversification and availability of public goods in West Bengal at district level.
