Literature also suggests that different levels of government may need to be simultaneously involved in the same broad services delivery area but in different ways in urban development in India. The paper reviews the urban development and empowering the slums dwellers by taking strong and effective initiatives in policy implementation so as to eradicate poverty and provide basic amenities and services along with hygiene food security in urban areas.
