The Street vending has grown significantly over the past few decades throughout the world. In India also the informal workforce is overwhelmingly huge and comprises 92 per cent of its working population. A substantial portion of such employment opportunities is generated in the urban areas and a majority of this workforce is economically marginalized. Street vending, as one of the means of survival for the urban poor in India, has been flourishing over the years.
