These problems are of common parlance world over but more acute in the third world countries like India. To overcome these problems, restructuring of old cities as well as establishment of new planned cities were noticed in India. Thus the urban geographers started to put their interest on it and analyze the negative and positive aspects of both planned and unplanned cities. The present paper takes an attempt to analyze the basic morphological characteristics of Kalyani, a modern planned new industrial township, built in 1960s in Nadia district. | Keywords : | | |
