This change has been in consonance with the changes taking place in the role and status of the judiciary in other modern democratic countries in the world. As regards the evolution of judicial activism in India, it has been found that Indian judiciary is a late-starter in that direction. Judicial activism which is the use of judicial power to articulate and enforce counter-ideologies which when effective initiates significant recodifications of power relations within the institutions of the governance explains the political role played by the judiciary. | Keywords : | | |
