The British introduce modern education in to India but only confined to higher strata of society the right to education found an ornamentry place in Indian Constitution, earlier several policies developments were introduced but right to education was not given legal status in India. Spurred by Unnikrishanan Case judgment and public demand to enforce the right to education, successive governments worked towards making it a legal right and Article 21-A was inserted in Indian Constitution. It took many years to the right of children to free and compulsory education to be entered in the legal statute books on 1st April 2010 it is hoped that all the concerned will come together to ensure its effective implementation. | Keywords : | | |
