In general terms, it is the gap between those who can effectively use new information and communication tools, such as the internet, and those who cannot. The digital divide becomes challenge for the development of digital libraries in India. Because the different factors such as Illiteracy, Poverty, Computer illiteracy, lack of widespread telecommunication facilities, shortage of power supply etc. created the digital divide in India. The Government of India and different state governments have already took developmental measures to control the digital divide. The present paper explained different government schemes, measures and programmes, which are aimed to overcome the digital divide and thereby enabling development of the digital libraries in India. | Keywords : | | |
