Indian agriculture continues to dominate all other economic activities as the largest private sector in the country. Agriculture accounts for more than one fourth of the national income (29 percent) and provides roughly two third of total employment (64 percent). Food grain production is the dominant character of Indian agriculture which accounts for 70 percent of net sown area.
