The role and function of such social workers vary with their personal interest and motives. However, in social work literature we have considerable body of literature which defines the role and responsibilities of a social worker in various contexts. In India the role of a social worker is understood in lines of role of social reformers or political thinkers. The complex nature of Indian society further makes the role of social worker very challenging. The present paper is an attempt to explore the role of social workers in non-government organization. The objective of present paper is to understand the difficulties faced by social workers in delivery of their service and also to identify the areas where the role of professional social workers could be strengthened. | Keywords : | | |
