| The world is witnessing the emerging era of communication technology which keeps adapting itself with the ever changing needs of younger generation. The objective of this study was to uncover the underlying dynamics of Social Networking Sites usage among the younger generation discovering their preferences and factors influencing the use of such sites. This paper identified the positive reasons for the popularity of SNS including making and finding friends and enjoying leisure time. The study also discusses their perception regarding the negative and the positive dimensions of SNS. Results indicate that Facebook and Twitter were among the top grossing SNSs among the youth. Negative impact of these sites include invasion of privacy in the form of pictures misuses, duplication of identity. The data available from the study clearly points out that young people are more attracted towards Social Networking Sites for socialising. |
