Self-Help Group is considered as a key strategy evolved by the developing nations to empower women especially rural women to leap from the state of powerlessness to powerfulness. In the present study an attempt is made to assess the impact of SHG on women empowerment in the spheres of economic, social, health, educational, knowledge and political aspects in Andhra Pradesh. The assessment has been made by considering their position before and after joining in SHG. A stratified multi stage random sample method is used for the purpose of the study. The study finds out that the SHG programme has considerable positive impact on all the aspects of women empowerment except on educational and political perspective in the study area. | Keywords : | | |
