In this, power cells are cascaded using two inverter legs in series. In the place of two parallel inverter legs, as used in CHB power cells. The Half–Bridge cells are usually connected in cascaded mode on their ac side to achieve medium-voltage operation and reduction of harmonic effect. Both IGBT/Diode switches are used in same leg with input voltage as Vdc/2. In this, Half-Bridge connection, half of the power is dissipated through the switches. The explosion severity of a power cell is reduced to half by this connection. The reliability of the system is improved and cost effectiveness. The phase shift pulse width modulating technique is used where five level cascaded Half-Bridge inverters are present. | Keywords : | | |
