The hidden potential of women has gradually been changing their role and economic status in the society. Women are increasingly being conscious of their existence and their rights. An attempt is made to take quick review of historical background of Indian Women status from Ancient, Medieval and modern India. The paper talks about issues of the status of women in India since independence, Gender, Women’s cultural and economical movement.
