In renascent Bengal the first initiatives concerning women education were taken by Brahmos. Keshab Chandra Sen, a prominent Brahmo invoked zenana education and domestic art and modicum of liberal education for women. He insisted to continue purdah system. But emergence of New Progressive Brahmos gave a new impetus to women education. They propagated the idea of equal education for women as men and wanted an end to the purdah system. | | Keywords : | | |
