History has observed many women with exceptional courage and cleverness who walked shoulder to shoulder with men of their times. Let us remember women of the freedom time who fought bravely for their country and contributed towards the achievement of independence of the country India. They fought with true spirit and unafraid courage and faced various tortures, exploitations, and hardships to earn us freedom. Woman’s participation in India’s freedom struggle began as early as 1789 when Veera Mangai Velunachiyar rebelled against the British Empire and fought for the freedom of India. Rani Velu Nachiyar was the first queen to fight against the British in India, even preceding the well-known Rani Laxmibai of Jhansi.
