Abstract :
Disaster Management was introduced in School Curricula in India after the devastating 2001 earthquake in Gujarat with an objective of making children learn about disaster management was to go beyond saving the lives of school children and school safety, to educate the community about better management of disasters. While preparation of school disaster management plans and conduct of mock drills aimed at saving the lives of school children by teaching them how to respond before, during and after the disasters, teaching them about hazards, prepared ness and mitigation as academic subjects aimed at enabling a culture of better disaster manage ment.
