There are lots of new facts and figures available which created a need to reevaluate the role and contribution of Banda Bahadur to Sikh community. Commander of the Sikh forces in his struggle with the Mughal rule in Punjab created a first sovereign sikh state immediately after the death of Aurangzeb during the rule of Bahadur Shah I.
